So I have been in Denmark for a few days now. Less than three to be exact. It officially hit me today. Now I know I have been here, but whenever you go on a trip, it takes some time for your mind to catch up with your body. I had a few “it hit me moments” today and I am falling in love with this city!
My Viking class is wonderful. I have taken some pretty great classes back in the states, and maybe it’s because this one is taking me to multiple countries, but it’s so unique.
I got lost today. By myself. In a foreign country. Without a phone. The funny part of the story is I was trying to pick up a Danish phone. But it hit me as I was on the corner of Somthings-gard and Others-gard thinking, “What am I going to do?!” At home I would pull up on google maps and make my way to the destination. But I’m in Denmark, and the Danes are helpful. I asked a few, and they were able to help, but I still couldn’t find my destination.
Tonight I went wandering around the city at night, in the day light. The night time here is beautiful. Every day there is more and more of the city that is made to be discovered. Today I got to try out both the train and the metro. I saw Hans Christian Andersen’s statue of The Little Mermaid. I also got to take the typical Copenhagen picture at Nyhavn.
It’s day 3. I’ve got a little more than 3 weeks to go. People in my house are really starting to open up and the city is pulling us in!
