I am at the half way point for this trip, and I can hardly believe it. Two weeks have flown by, and I can’t believe I’ll be home in another two. The kicker is my adventure has hardly begun. This time tomorrow I’ll be in another country having the time of my life.
Today was a fairly average day filled with academia. While in Iceland next week I will be presenting on the Viking Expansion to the West. It’s a very interesting topic, but there is a lot of history and research behind it.
But I couldn’t stay cooped up inside on such a beautiful Danish day. An afternoon in the King’s Garden was just what I needed to get out of the books and back into the swing of Copenhagen. My friend Kelsey and I have a list of places we want to see and things we want to do while we are here this month. Our goal is to do something everyday, and today that was paddle boating. Our apartment is right by Peblinge So (Peblinge Lake) and they rent out paddle boats. These aren’t your typical paddle boats, they were in the shapes of swans. Swans are the national bird of Denmark, and they are beautiful. An hour out on the water was a great way to relax in the city, and the view was beautiful. It also doubled as a great leg workout, haha.
Tonight wrapped up with a very special celebration. One of the girls in our building is celebrating her birthday in Copenhagen this year. She is turning 20 and we had a surprise party for her. She was completely unaware of it, and had a great time with cake, balloons and sparklers. I’m very impressed at how quickly our community have built up our relationships. We will all be going different places (with our classes) over the next week, and I am really going to miss spending time with some of them. It’s hard to wrap my head around the fact that I only have one week left in this city, and so many things I still want to see.
Now on to packing and the start of another great adventure!
