Lazy Sundays are the best kinds of Sundays, as has previously been established. However, I do enjoy doing something around Copenhagen every day.
Todays plan was to go to the Amalienborg Palace and take a tour. Unfortunately our sleepy Sunday gave us a late start, we got there 30 minutes before it was going to close. That has been postponed for another day. It makes me nervous, there aren’t many days to push things back to.
Instead we went to look at the Frederik’s Church, it is also known as The Marble Church. It is beautiful! I have seen plenty of churches on this trip, and this one comes very close to blowing them all away.
A quick ice cream in Nyhavn on a blistering hot Copenhagen day was just what we needed to make up for our palace mishap. A scoop of mango and mojito on a bench in a shade is almost as good as a palace, right?
Since I couldn’t spend the day sight seeing like I had hoped, I was studious. I have a large paper on the Viking Expansion West due at the end of the week. Best to get that done sooner than later so I have more time for fun.
I also had the pleasure of chatting with the fam today. It’s been a while, and a 7 hour time difference doesn’t make it any easier. My brother and dad fly our for Yellowstone the morning I fly back to America. We will miss each other in the airport by a couple of hours. They will be out white water rafting and wilderness exploring and all that jazz for another ten days.
Four pages down, four-six to go. My goal is to be done by Tuesday, or maybe Wednesday. There is just so much left to do in Denmark every moment here needs to count. Whether it’s taking in a beautiful palace or spending time with new friends that I hope will last a lifetime. It’s the last week, and it’s going to be fantastic!
