The plan was remade, and we made it to Amalienborg today. It is a beautiful palace. The museum is one of the four noble houses from way back when. Back when the royalty were living in Christiansborg and Rosenborg. Of the four palaces, two of them are occupied. One by the queen and one by the crown prince and his family. I am not sure what the third is being used for, but the forth is the museum. It has some relics from the monarchy past, but not as much as I had hoped. That is to be expected I guess since there is still a monarchy in the country and they still need their things.
Denmark is one of the few countries in the world that you can practically touch the door to the royal residence without any ramifications. The Danes are very trusting, and I appreciate them sharing their history with me.
After our tour, I had a bit of academic time. The revised goal is to have the paper done by Thursday morning…
I had a great dinner out with some of my closest friends on this trip and our SRA Stephanie. Over the last month, she has made the transition to being in Denmark very easy, and I am happy to count her as one of my friends. As for my new American friends, I am happy to announce that plans are already underway for a visit this fall. I am really going to miss these guys.
We had a fairly unsuccessful night out on the town…it’s a Monday. Anywhere we wanted to go was empty or closed. Regardless, we still had a great time. As I have been saying, every moment here counts!
